MOBILE DEVICE INSURANCE
WHAT YOU ARE COVERED FOR
As part of your subscription, SecureUs has arranged insurance cover on the Mobile Device against accidental, unforeseen physical loss or damage occurring anywhere in South Africa, including Theft; Loss; and Liquid Damage. The Mobile Device will either be repaired or replaced (at the discretion of Auto & General Insurance Company Limited, the Insurer). The insured value of the Mobile Device is dependent upon your chosen Subscription Agreement , which includes Terms and Conditions associated with the insurance cover.
PERIOD OF INSURANCE
Cover is for the duration of your subscription (either 12 or 24 months), provided you pay your monthly subscription fee on time.
SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING DUE CARE AND PRECAUTION
At all times you must take reasonable steps to safeguard the Mobile Device from loss, damage or theft. Any repairs to the Mobile Device must be carried out by a repairer authorised by the Insurer or their appointed nominee.
EXCLUSIONS OF THE POLICY - WHAT YOU ARE NOT COVERED FOR
Damage to the Mobile Device caused by wear and tear, gradual deterioration, scratching or other superficial damage to outer casings, aerials or keypads.
Any loss or damage incurred to Mobile Device whilst on hire or loan to another person.
Loss of or damage to the Mobile Device resulting from theft or any attempt thereat from any unattended vehicle, unless the vehicle was locked and the Mobile Device is concealed in the cubby hole or boot. Any such loss must involve forcible and violent entry into the vehicle.
Loss or damage to batteries, other than when they are stolen or lost together with the Mobile Device.
Loss or damage arising from the Mobile Device not being safeguarded whilst being charged.
Consequential loss of any kind whatsoever eg: loss of income due to not having the Mobile Device or call charges incurred after the loss of the Mobile Device.
Loss of or damage to accessories and or car kits.
Loss or damage arising from the Mobile Device while left unattended in a public place, place of recreation, office, mall or social occasion where it is vulnerable for easy removal or damage.
Loss or damage arising from the Mobile Device being left unattended or exposed when unknown persons or 3rd parties are in your home, office or similar area.
Loss or damage arising from the Mobile Device being removed from your locked home, office or similar area unless accompanied by forcible or violent entry into the area.
Loss of or damage to the Mobile Device arising from or contributed to, by gross negligence or willful conduct by you.
Loss or damage arising from a wilful act carried out by any other person known to you.
Loss or damage arising from a manufacturers defect.
Loss, damage or defect that is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.
Loss, damage or defect arising from any software or application.
Loss or damage caused by electronically conveyed viruses.
Loss or damage arising from remote jamming devices or related events.
Loss or damage arising from any unauthorised repairs or as a result of bad workmanship by an unauthorised repairer.
Loss or damage resulting from political or non-political riot, strike or civil commotion, public disorder, war, invasion, terrorism or public violence which is insurable by SASRIA (South African Special Risks Insurance Association) is excluded from this cover.
EXCESS STRUCTURE - What you pay in the event of a claim
An excess is payable for every valid claim under this policy. Two claims are permissible within any one-year period. The excesses payable for each claim type is dependent upon the value of your Mobile Device. An additional R250 is payable for each claim made within the first 60 (sixty) days of cover.
WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT OF A CLAIM
Within 1 business day of discovering the loss or damage, you must lodge a claim on the SecureUs application via your SecureUs agent.

You must submit all the documents needed for a claim within 30 days.
When your Mobile Device is stolen you will be required to do the following during the claims process:
Report it to the police and your service provider,
deactivate your stolen SIM; and
blacklist your stolen Mobile Device.
SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
You must assist in the recovery of lost or stolen Mobile Devices;
In the case of theft, proof of forcible entry may be required;
When a Mobile Device has been replaced and the original device recovered, that recovered device belongs to the Insurer.
The Insurer is allowed to handle your claim in your name if criminal action is necessary.
You must pay the excess within 90 days of the approved claim otherwise the claim will be treated as not taken up.
If your claim is rejected, there is a formal process you can follow. Refer to the policy wording for the details.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF COVER
You must fulfil all your obligations to keep your cover valid.
You can have dual insurance for the same event but the Insurer will only be liable for their rateable portion.
Either you or the Insurer can cancel the policy by giving 31 days’ notice.
Fraudulent claims, forged or false documents will not be tolerated.
You can’t transfer the contract to another person.
